5 Can’t-Miss Fall Events in Johnson County, Indiana for 2026
There is just something about fall in Johnson County.
The mornings get cooler, football is back, pumpkin everything starts appearing on menus, and suddenly spending an entire Saturday outside eating food-truck food and wandering through a festival sounds like an excellent life choice.
If you’re new to Johnson County—or you’ve lived here for years and want to make the most of the season—these are five of my favorite types of local fall experiences to put on your 2026 calendar.
I included a little bit of everything: festivals, pumpkins, shopping, an adults' outing and plenty of activities for the kids.

Top fall events in Johnson County, Indiana for 2026 include Harvest Moon Festival in Bargersville, Franklin Fall Festival, Kelsay Farms Fall Season in Whiteland, Wine at the Line at Mallow Run Winery, and the Hoosier Fall Festival at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. These events offer something for everyone, from family activities and pumpkin patches to shopping, live music, food and wine.
1. Harvest Moon Festival — Downtown Bargersville

If you want to kick off fall with a small-town festival atmosphere, head to Bargersville for the Harvest Moon Festival.
Downtown Bargersville fills up with live entertainment, food, local vendors, handmade goods and a car show. The festival runs until 9 PM, while the auto show and vendor market are scheduled from noon to 4 PM.
This is a great option when your group includes different ages because you don't have to commit to one specific activity. Walk around, shop, grab something to eat, listen to music and enjoy downtown Bargersville.
Best for: Families, couples, friend groups and anyone who loves supporting local businesses.
LOCAL PRO TIP: Bring a lightweight folding chair if you plan to stay for the music, and don't forget a reusable shopping bag for your vendor finds. Wear comfortable shoes—you'll probably walk more than you think.
2. Franklin Fall Festival — Downtown Franklin

If you're going to choose one BIG community festival this fall, Franklin Fall Festival deserves a spot near the top of the list.
This all-day event takes over downtown Franklin with a parade, Dachshund Derby, live music, food trucks, hayrides, vendors and more. The event is free to attend, making it an easy option for a full family day without buying admission tickets for everyone.
And because you're already downtown, make time to wander through the local shops and restaurants surrounding the festival.
Best for: Everyone. Seriously. Bring the kids, grandparents, neighbors or make it a date day.
LOCAL PRO TIP: Don't wait until the middle of the afternoon to figure out parking. Arrive earlier, park once and plan to stay awhile. Bring a small crossbody bag or backpack with sunscreen, a refillable water bottle and a light sweatshirt for later in the evening. Indiana fall weather loves to give us multiple seasons in one day.
3. Kelsay Farms Fall Season — Whiteland
September 25–October 25, 2026

For the classic family fall experience, Kelsay Farms is hard to beat.
Even better, 2026 marks the farm's 20th fall season.
The fall experience includes the corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, jump pad, corn crib, Moo Choo and pumpkin patch. Regular fall weekend hours are Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, with additional weekday hours during fall break.
This is one of those outings where you should give yourself a few hours instead of trying to squeeze it between errands. Let the kids run, get lost in the corn maze, take the obligatory pumpkin pictures and enjoy being outside.
Best for: Families with kids, grandparents and anyone looking for the quintessential Indiana fall farm day.
LOCAL PRO TIP: This is NOT the day for your cutest clean white shoes. You're going to a farm. Wear shoes that can handle dirt and possibly mud. Bring a wagon if you have little kids, layers for changing temperatures and your phone fully charged because the pumpkin-patch photo opportunities are plentiful.
4. Wine at the Line — Mallow Run Winery

Fall isn't only for the kids.
Wine at the Line at Mallow Run Winery combines a 5K run/walk through the Bargersville countryside with a post-race party featuring wine tasting, food and live music.
And before my fellow non-runners skip this section: you can walk it.
The 2026 event is the 16th annual Wine at the Line. Registration includes chip timing, a long-sleeved event shirt, commemorative wine glass and the post-race celebration. Proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The winery recommends arriving before 1 PM because roads close promptly at 2 PM for the race.
This one would make a fantastic girls' day, couples outing or group event.
Best for: Adults, friend groups, couples, runners and walkers.
LOCAL PRO TIP: Bring your photo ID if you're 21+ and plan to enjoy the wine. Arrive early—seriously. Mallow Run specifically recommends arriving before 1 PM. Also bring shoes you're comfortable walking in and plan your transportation ahead of time if you'll be enjoying the wine after the race.
5. Hoosier Fall Festival — Johnson County Fairgrounds

Calling all shoppers.
The Hoosier Fall Festival brings more than 200 craft and commercial vendors to the Johnson County Fairgrounds for two days of shopping, food, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Admission is free, and you'll find everything from handmade goods and seasonal décor to food and activities for the kids.
If you're the person who says, "I'm just looking," and then somehow walks back to the car carrying four bags and a new piece of fall décor, consider yourself warned.
Best for: Shoppers, girlfriends' day out, families and anyone looking for unique gifts or seasonal décor.
LOCAL PRO TIP: Bring a reusable tote—or two. If you're serious about shopping, go earlier in the day before the crowds get heavier. I also recommend taking a quick photo of where you parked before heading inside. Fairground parking lots have a funny way of making every row look identical when you're carrying six shopping bags.
BONUS: Franklin Halloween Town

If your family loves Halloween, finish your Johnson County fall season with Franklin Halloween Town.
The day includes a 5K/family walk, kids' activities, a pet costume contest and downtown trick-or-treating. The main Halloween Town festivities are scheduled from 2–8 PM, with trick-or-treating from downtown businesses and decorated vehicles later in the day.
LOCAL PRO TIP: Bring a bigger candy bag than you think your kids need, comfortable walking shoes and an extra layer that can fit over—or under—the costume if the temperature drops.
Fall in Johnson County Is One of My Favorite Seasons
One of the things I love about living in Johnson County is that you don't have to drive far to find something happening.
Within a few weeks, you can go from a small-town festival in Bargersville to a pumpkin patch in Whiteland, spend a day exploring downtown Franklin, walk a 5K through the countryside and finish the season trick-or-treating downtown.
And these events aren't just something to put on the calendar. They're part of what makes our communities feel like home.
